Daddy's way of shopping

Victoria and I took a day together and drove to our nearest Ikea (2hrs away) Reagan had asked Marc if they could do something fun together, he told her sure, whatever she wanted. I had a hard time keeping a straight face when I heard that. The reason Marc didn't come to Ikea with me is because he hates shopping, Reagan's idea of a fun time is to go shopping.
When we got home I noticed Reagan wearing a brand new sparkly pair of Hannah Montanna sneakers, compliments of Daddy, yes she got her own way and he took her shoe shopping, a girls dream come true.
A little while ago I asked Marc "So what size shoe is she wearing now ? " he shrugged, "You don't know ?" I asked. "Nope" was his response "They were hanging there, she liked them, tried them on, they fit, I bought them." I don't know if I'm impressed at his cavalier way of shoe shopping for our child or a little bewildered that he didn't take more time. I think deep down I'm maybe a little envious that I can't be that easy going.

Happy Birthday Victoria

It's hard to believe that my oldest child is 17 today, I have no idea how that time flew by so quickly and as she so eloquently put it this morning, I have just one year left to tell her what to do.

Happy birthday Victoria, doesn't matter that you're no longer that little girl who used to sit on my lap as we read many books together, or used to get so excited when we'd go to the ice cream shop after school, or got jealous that I didn't play Barbies as much when your baby brother came along and for which you still remind me of, or the little girl that would play in the shops in England w/ Great Grand-Father, running through the aisles making silly squawking noises, or the little girl that screamed at me in the store after I popped your hand for touching expensive crystal for the 2nd time after being told "No", or the sassy 7 y/o who charged boys to come look at the dead cat we had in our freezer, (hermetically sealed for those wondering WTH?) that had had an autopsy, you called it 'Frankenstein Cat'.
I will always love you to the ends of the earth. I'm a proud Momma, you have grown into a beautiful young woman, one who will drive me insane with frustration one minute and will have me on the verge of tears the next as I see how incredibly hard you work to gain strength back into your leg.
You've had a rough year, but you've done it with grace (for the most part)Your Dad and I are extremely proud of you. We wish you nothing but happiness, success, and good health.
We love you to the moon and back xoxoxo

Happy Valentines Day

Spring is just around the corner

This morning I woke up to one of my favorite sounds, Bird song. Always a great indicator that Winter is almost over and the warmer temps will be coming soon ;-)

Glad to be a WAHM

Days like today make me so grateful to be a WAHM.
The day started off with Ben feeling cruddy, he felt ill last night and was in bed before 8pm, he made an attempt to go to school today, but it just wasn't meant to be, instead he slept all morning and has lounged in his PJs all day, he still looks like crap, but at least he's feeling better.
Victoria had a P/T appt right after I dropped Reagan off at school, on our way she ate lunch and took her pain meds to prepare for a gruelling 1hr of P/T , 10 mins after eating, her vision went funky and all she could see were black spots, then she got dizzy and nauseous, the same happened on Friday, so I'm thinking she's reacting to her pain meds, so instead of P/T she came home and promptly threw up.
Just a little short of 1hr later I got a call from Reagan's school asking me to go get her as she was writhing in pain with her stomach, so off I sped to get her.
If I were a WOHM I'd have probably made Ben go to school anyway, I would have just dropped Victoria off at her P/T appt gone back to work only to receive a call to go get her, I'd have left, settled her at home and gone back only to receive another call to go get Reagan, I think my boss and fellow work associates may have gotten a tad irritated w/ me,instead I was able to drop everything at a minutes notice and tend to each child as needed.
I need to remember this on the days I get frazzled and wish I worked out of my home.

To all of you WOHM's I salute you, how you deal at times like these w/out losing your mind, I don't know.

6 more weeks

I think Victoria and the GroundHog must be working on the same schedule this year. Her surgeon says she has to be home for at least another 6 weeks, hopefully she'll be back to school in time for the start of Spring. Ay yi yi.

Why ?

Why do young innocent children have to suffer w/ horrible diseases while adults who know better are out there not giving a damn about their lives and doing all kinds of things to abuse their bodies ?
Why do beautiful young people who go about w/ a heart to help others get murdered by people w/ no regard to life ?
Why do wonderful vibrant, caring parents get struck w/ dreadful diseases leaving them unable to care for their children, while child abusers get the chance to abuse another child ?
Why do hard working people get killed on their way home from a long day at work while the driver of the car just takes off w/ no regard for the life he has just taken ?
Why do sweet young girls have to die leaving their family wondering why and looking for answers when there are other young people out there who know exactly what happened yet refuse to come forward ?

I don't get it, WHY ???
