Back handed compliments

Today I was the teachers helper at Reagan's school, it is one of my favorite things to do, I really think I may have missed my calling and should have become a Pre school teacher.
As I sat down helping a group of kids do one of their projects, the little boy sitting next to me, looked up at me with his big brown eyes and said "Ms Penny, I wish you were my Grandma." *EEK* Me a Grandma, I don't look that old do I ?
In reality I think it was a compliment, his mom is moving away next week and he will be staying w/ Grandma, I think he's traumatized by the whole thing, he makes my heart ache a little.

Honey, you do NOT look like a grandma! I think sometimes kids know they can't say "I wish you were my mom" because they know it would hurt mom. But you already have (potentially) two grandmas, so what's wrong with a third? ;)

What a sweet thing to say, really!

Love that pic of you two! Adorable!

I'm sure he didn't mean, "Ms Penny, I wish you were my Grandma." as much as he meant, "Ms Penny, I wish I was moving in with you."

Lord knows JJ wants to live with you. ;)

And I love that picture of you two as well!
