Giveaway Day

It's Giveaway Day again over at Sew Mama Sew http://sewmamasew.com/blog and just like in times past I'm one of those bloggers participating so without further ado lets get to the nitty gritty.
You have until 5pm on December 16th to enter, that's this coming Friday, so you have plenty of time to not only enter here but the hundreds of other blogs that are participating too :).
I will choose a winner by random generator and notify the winner via email by Sunday and your goodies will be in the mail to you before Christmas day.
I'm opening this Giveaway up to everyone who has a mailing address, so if you live on the other side of the world that's A'OK you can still enter. Please only one entry per person, if you enter more than once you go on Santa's naughty list and will end up with a lump of coal instead of the awesomeness you could win here.
Talking of awesomeness want to see what I'm giving away ? A fabulous make-up brush clutch. Actually these clutches can be used for anything from make-up brushes, to crochet hooks and markers as long as they're 8 inches or shorter. Pretty sweet huh ? You get to choose which design you'd like from the ones pictured below.
All you need to do to enter is leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite Christmas cookie is, if you have extra time on your hands (HAH) you could even leave the recipe or maybe you've blogged about it, if so link it up, I'm sure many of us are in need of new recipes, I know I am and be sure to state which clutch you'd like.
If you're also hosting a Giveaway and would like to link to it please feel free to link up in your comment.
                                                                      Good luck !!!

I love both the clutches on the top left, and can't pick which one I think looks better. Horrible, I know. If I do happen to get picked, just surprise me, I guess?

As for favorite cookie recipe, peanut butter chocolate chunk. Easy enough, you preferred PB cookie recipe, toss in chocolate chunks (or chips, doesn't matter), bake as normal (well, you have to squish with hands instead of a fork if you want them to flatten right, but still)

Here's my favorite, almost cookie, recipe for Christmas:

Toffee (Christmas Crunch)

1 ¾ cups sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
¼ cup water
1 cup margarine or butter (2 sticks)
8 ounces slivered blanched almonds, lightly toasted and finely chopped
2 1-ounce squares unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
2 1-ounce squares semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 teaspoon shortening

In heavy 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, heat sugar, corn syrup, and ¼ cup water to boiling, stirring occasionally. Stir in margarine or butter. Set candy thermometer in place and continue cooking, stirring frequently, until temperature reaches 300 degrees F or hard-crack stage (when small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water separates into hard and brittle threads), about 20 minutes.

Remove saucepan from heat. Reserve ½ cup chopped almonds. Stir remaining almonds into hot syrup. Immediately pour mixture into lightly greased 15 ½” by 10 ½” jelly-roll pan; spread evenly. Cool in pan on rack.

Prepare chocolate glaze: In heavy, small saucepan over low heart, heat chocolate and shortening until melted, stirring occasionally. Remove saucepan from heat; cool slightly.

Remove candy in one piece from pan to cutting board. Spread chocolate over candy; sprinkle with reserved almonds, pressing them gently into chocolate. Set candy aside to allow glaze to set, about 1 hour. Break candy into pieces. Store in layers, separated by waxed paper, in tightly covered container to use up within 2 weeks. Makes about 1 ¼ pounds candy.

Can you say YUMMY!!

Thanks for the great giveaway!

Beautiful bags.

My favorite cookie at Christmas time is thumbprint cookies. Rather than jelly in the thumbprint, I often fill them with buttercream icing.

My favourite has to be Shortbread, and Lucy makes a lovely one.

My fave isn't really a cookie. I like English mince pies, plain pastry with vegan apricot and ginger mincemeat. Hot. That owl fabric is great.

Very stylish!

My favourite christmas treat is pink snow squares, but I have been too lazy to copy the recipe out of the book. instead, my next best thing - the ginger cookie mix from President's choice - it has tasty bits of candied ginger for lots of heat!

Thanks,
Sarah
