In the blink of an eye

Reagan went from this

To this

How can 6 years go by so quickly ?
In the last 6 years I've seen a tiny baby grow into a beautiful little girl. A little girl who is mature beyond her years, one who finds joy in just about everything, one who is always ready to offer a helping hand or a quick hug. A little girl who can spend hours drawing or swimming, one who loves to cook and come up with menus for the week that the average 6 y/o would never think about. A little girl who requested steak, twice baked potato and fruit salad for her birthday dinner, followed by a Pound cake and fresh fruit for her Birthday cake dessert.
She has a belly laugh that will get a room full of grown ups laughing too.
Her caring spirit is way beyond her years, there will never be a child left alone on the playground with no one to play with if Reagan is around. She is grateful for everything she has and often thanks us. It touched my heart so much on her Birthday when she almost cried because she thought the cake I made her was perfect, and how she hugged me and thanked me for all the hard work I did to throw her a Birthday party. Those little things bring a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye,
I'm so proud of my little girl.

She also has a temper not to be reckoned with, her 11 y/o brother has learnt that you don't mess w/ the little sister unless you want to deal with her wrath, she'll never start a fight, but she won't cower from finishing one.
She'll hold a grudge from now until eternity. If you upset her or one of her friends you'd better watch out loyalty could be her middle name.

My favorite time of the day with Reagan is still first thing in the morning. She wanders into my room at about 6:40am every day still drunk from sleep, Rosy cheeked, tousled hair and eyes sparkling, she walks to the side of my bed, gives me a sweet kiss on my cheek and says "Good morning Mommy", then promptly climbs into bed with me and we snuggle until it's time to get up for the day. It's the only time of the day that truly belongs to just us and I cherish every moment of it.

In 2 short weeks my little buddy for the last 6 years will climb onto the school bus for the first day ever and go off to Kindergarten, I'm still not sure how I feel about that. I'm happy that she's growing up and is ready to take that first huge step out into the big wide world away from me, I'm also sad that we're not going to have our mornings together or 3 o clock Popsicle time while the other 2 kids are still at school. Instead, just as I did with her brother and sister I'll have to carve out a different time of the day just for us. It'll be an adjustment and one that we will both ease into.

Reagan you are the little ray of sunshine I often need on a long day, one look at your smiling face and all the woes of the world go away. You're my little alter ego, even your Daddy laughs at how alike we are, how we can finish each others sentences, how we love to do the same things, be it bake a cake, go for a walk, or do a craft and how we both love to watch all of those really cool shows on Discovery Health.

I love you sweet girl all the way to the moon and back and look forward to seeing what the future holds for you, I pray it's something just as amazing as you.
