Kitchen makeover

As you may have seen in my post below my brother came all the way from England to decorate my kitchen for me, now how's that for brotherly love ?
I took before pictures but they took up too much room on my memory card and I guess we were somewhere where the photo ops were more important than old dingy kitchen pics so they went off into cyber space somewhere.

Anyway, previously all of the wood work was a mid tone grey/blue, he painted it all bright white. The wallpaper was white with wheat sheaves tied up with country blue ribbons, the border was country blue with straw bonnets, he painted over it in a lemonade yellow and the cabinets were a dingy cheap wood that he painted a Granny Smith green and spray painted the handles and hinges silver. What a HUGE improvement.
If you have known me for any amount of time you will have learnt that I am so not a country decor kind of gal, ack, ack, ack. I go for bright whimsical and a little bit funky, so this kitchen is a lot more me than it was before. I can't always get away with it with my very traditional husband, but when I can I run with it.

So here are a couple of before pics

Even the kids got in on the makeover.. they hated the old look too

And Ta Da, the finished product

I'll admit, it is definitely a lot brighter than I had originally envisioned but it's a heck of a lot better than before and it makes me feel happy and energised as opposed to sleepy and sad. The picture window is definitely my favorite area, unfortunately it shows up really dark in photos but heck, here's a look at it, just imagine it bright and sunny.

My next project in this sad looking house is my dining room, I've conceded to more traditional but it'll be a great improvement on the ugly early 90's floral pattern.
