From my son. OMG, I know that sounds terrible, but bless his heart when he tells a story he'll put you to sleep. He has this really monotone way of describing things, I just want to shake him and say "Please spit it out, what do you want to tell me for the love of Pete." Usually he's a very animated little boy, but dear God have him tell you something about his day and you'll need a cup of Espresso just to get through it.
So for all you teachers out there, how the hell do I teach my son to relay news of his day without sending those in the room to sleep ?
Oh and the kicker, he wants to be a teacher one day. AAAGGGHHH, we've all had that one teacher with the monotone voice that just drives you to the brinks of hell, PLEEEEASE don't let that teacher be my son.

Bueller...Bueller... Sorry, Penny, you might not get the reference since you didn't spend the 80's here. If you have never seen "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" you must see it. Ben Stein plays a monotone teacher and he was the first person I thought of when you described Ben as a teacher.
I can relate to wanting to shake a story out of a kid. Jackson is sometimes TOO animated and uses too many gestures and um's.
Thanks for sharing. The post made me smile thinking of the two of you trying to communicate :-)
OMG, Lisa, I know exactly who you are talking about,UGH, I hope he doesn't end up like that.
Oh wait 'til Jackson is old enough to play Taboo. Ben is great at it but sooooo much better at Charades ;-)
John does that sometimes and oh it really pinches my nerves. Hope you find a way to break him of it, if so, let me know so I can experiment on John too!
But I think its great he wants to be a teacher!
LOL I know the spit it out feeling. Bridget rambles and stutters and takes 3 minutes to tell me she wants a drink because she has to go into the entire story of how she got thirsty. He could go for the professor route. I had many like that. He'd work out well at VT.
It must be a boy thing! Sometimes when Sean is talking I can feel my eyes start to roll back in my head! lol
