Okay, I'm in need of an apron because I never seem to get around to making myself one!
My favorite thing about this time of year is how much Brianna loves everything about the holiday. She gets excited over seeing the decorations, the lights (even just a string of lights has her exclaiming) and she adores Christmas music. It's fun to see the holiday through a child's eyes!
Oh, such a pretty apron! (And I wear a small)
Its hard to pick a favorite Xmas memory. I have sweet ones growing up, be it the handmade Cabbage Patch my grandma made me when my mom couldn't get 1 at the store, or the whole clan on my mom's side (all 21 and their kids) at my Pop's. And right now with JJ we are making so many more special ones, but I would have to say my favorite was 2 years ago, before my mom died, she was doing so good for Xmas, and she was so happy to be able to travel and be with everyone. I have 1 picture of her holding JJ, and she was just radiant.
This is an adorable apron!
My favorite holiday memory is getting to open our special ornaments on Christmas eve. It is a tradition we have carried on to our kids, and hopefully they will carry it on with theirs. I love everything about this time of year, it just makes me feel good!
Don't sweat the small stuff, love ((hug))
my favorite holiday memory is the year when mom threw the thanksgiving turkey at my step-dad. I'll tell you all about it sometime, heh heh :D
Hi...I'm new here. I love this time of year because I love to see my kids get SOOOO excited about all the holiday festivities...lights, decorating the tree, Santa, etc!

Gorgeous apron!
My favorite thing about this time of year is just getting to be with my family. I live several hours from them, and it's only one of the two times during the year that we all get together under one roof. So whether we even exchange gifts (which we often don't) the best gift is being close to them -- eating, laughing, telling stories from the past, eating more.

My favorite Christmas memory is from sometime in the late 70's. All my aunts came over to our house and were making tamales and buñuelos with my mom. My memory is of hearing them talking and laughing while all us kids were in our bedroom, playing and trying to stay awake for Santa.
Cute apron!
I'm not sure that it's my favorite memory, but this is one of my favorite stories to tell. :)
My grandmother was born in 1906. And sometimes she cooked funny food. She over-cooked most meat and made old-fashioned side dishes. My brothers and I didn't care to go to her house for holiday dinners. We would have much preferred to go to our other grandmother's house.
But! One year when I was about 8 - 10, Grandma made green jell-o. It was noteworthy because Grandma never made jell-o. My brothers and I were delighted and scooped big globs onto our plates.
Then we sat down to eat. Ugh! It had onions in it, and nuts, and other savory things. It was awful. I don't think we were made to eat it all, but we certainly were made to feel guilty about wasting the food.

Oh that apron is adorable! I need one like that to inspire me to get my butt in gear for holiday baking!
One of my favorite holiday memories is putting up the Christmas tree with my dad. It was inevitable that at least one of the light strings would not be working. In those days, when one went out, they ALL went out. It was my "job" to take a good bulb and find the bad one by testing them one at a time. I felt very special, being given this important task. LOL.
Every year the same motley crew of ornaments would be pulled from the boxes and hung from the branches. There was a Smurfette playing tennis, a snowman on a sled that played Jingle Bells, a big satin "Mother" ball, a brass teddy bear with my name engraved on it along with "1981", the year I received it.
I miss that crazy family tree. It certainly would never make Martha Stewart Living Magazine, but it was ours and it was love.

My favorite tradition is the Solstice Orange. We build a fire outside & everyone gets an orange. As you peel the orange you are peeling away worries or problems or fears. You toss them in the fire to help remove them from your life. Then with each section eaten you imagine a good thought or wish or hope for the coming year.
That apron is a real cutie! If I am so lucky, I'd wear a medium.
My favorite Christmas was the one in which my parents, brother, and I went to the family farm in Southwestern Virginia and soon discovered we had no ornaments for the tree we had put up. I had worked at a summer camp that year and learned how to make god's eyes. (We made looots of god's eyes at camp.) Grandmother had a bag of yarn in her basement which she was not using, so I ended up making dozens of god's eyes of all sizes and colors for the tree. I found some natural things too like straw and feathers to add to the tree. It was lovely in a very primitive way. And when grandmother's pretty cat sat underneath, that completed it.
Here's a tutorial for making god's eyes: http://crafts.kaboose.com/gods-eyes.html

That is one generous give away. My favorite memories are when I was a kid and we used to celebrate christmas eve at my grandmothers. Both her and my grandfather have since past away years ago, but I always get nostalgic at this time of the year.
(by the way, I am a large)
Saludos,
Yoli
What a fun apron!~ And generous giveaway, too :)
For me, what I love most this time of year is watching the kids. The wonder and excitement in their eyes, the rosy red cheeks from too much sugar and listening to them sing with joy. Carollers make me happy too ;)
My favorite memory of Christmas is when I was younger, my grandparents would ALWAYS let me open up one gift Christmas Eve. I now do that with my own kids.

Beautiful apron!
I think one of my favorite Christmas memories would have to be cooking with my aunts & grandmother. Every year since I can remember all of the women in our family would get together & make (from scratch) raviolis, gnocchi & pizzelles. My grandmother always told me to watch carefully because I would have to learn how to do it myself someday.
Probably because of the raviolis, gnocchi & pizzelles, I am a size L.
What an adorable apron! My favorite Christmas memory is when Cabbage Patch Kids were all the rage. I wanted to adopt a doll so much, but my mom warned me that it would be impossible. I didn't have hope of getting one, but I still wanted one so badly. On Christmas Eve, my cousin came over, and she had one! I was so envious but also happy for her. Then my aunt gave me a present to unwrap. When I got to the box, it was a plain Cabbage Patch Kid box (different from the ones that have a plastic window on the front). My cousin chimed in, "Oh, we used my box to wrap your present." My heart sank. Until I opened the box, and there was my beautiful Cabbage Patch Kid. I was truly surprised and overjoyed.

Adorable apron!
My favorite Christmas memory centers around the year when I was 12 or 13. I desperately wanted to play the piccolo (I was currently playing the flute). Our school didn't have one, so buying it was the only option.
I told everyone that I didn't need anything else if I could have a piccolo, but was told that it wasn't in the budget. When I came downstairs Christmas morning, there it was under the tree (from Santa). I was bowled over.
